Challenging and rewarding best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course.  This course will expand your knowledge and experience level.  Rescue divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and wellbeing of other divers.  Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems, and if necessary, manage dive emergencies.  Many divers say this is the best course they've ever undertaken.  You'll cover:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Panicked diver response
  • In-water rescue breathing protocols
  • Exits
  • Dive accident scenarios
  • Emergency O2 use

Course Prerequisite

  • You will need a current Medic First Aid certificate.
  • Advanced open water certification
  • Current Padi medical within last 12 months
  • Be 16 years or older

Course Schedule

You start at home with PADI e-Learning or your PADI study pak, this teaches you all you need to know before you get in the water. You do this at your own pace, but must be completed prior to course commencement.

The course is run over two days

Day 1 - Dive HQ / Aquatic centre

  • Course Orientation
  • Theory Review
  • General dive skill assessment
  • Confined water training: Self Rescue Review, Tired diver, Panicked diver, Stress management, First Aid Equipment & procedures, Managing an emergency, Equipment problems, Recognizing rescue situations, Swimming & non swimming assists, Panicked diver response, Rescuing an unconscious diver, In-water respiration, First aid procedures for pressure related injuries, Exits/egresses, Equipment removal and Dive accident scenarios.

Day 2 -  Blue Lake

  • Rescue Scenarios - refining the techniques you have learned from day 1, then practicing them with different rescue scenarios, this includes how to plan a search for a missing diver, how to surface an unresponsive diver, how to strip a diver of his equipment while providing him with rescue breaths and how to exit the water with an unconsciousness diver.

We can supply hire gear at 50% off during the course.
Air fills and tanks are provided.
